How to edit or delete a Google review reply
Every business posts the odd reply they later regret. Editing is fast; the harder question is whether you should.
TL;DR
Google Business Profile → Reviews → your reply → three-dot menu → Edit or Delete. The change goes live immediately. Edits are silent (no timestamp change visible to the public).
Step by step
- 1
Open the review
Business Profile → Reviews → find the review with your reply attached.
- 2
Click the three-dot menu on YOUR reply
Not the reviewer's — the menu on your own response. Choose Edit or Delete.
- 3
Edit → confirm
The updated reply is live within a few minutes. No public timestamp of the edit.
- 4
Prefer edit over delete
Deleting a reply erases the record of you engaging. Edit unless the original was actively harmful.
FAQ
- Can the reviewer tell I edited the reply?
- No public timestamp, no notification. The updated text simply replaces the old one.
- What if I need to delete a rude reply from an ex-employee?
- Delete immediately, then post a replacement reply that acknowledges and moves the conversation offline.
