Google review reply templates
Google Business Profile is the highest-traffic review surface for local businesses. Replies here directly influence local-pack ranking and click-to-website rate. These templates are the shapes we send most often from HappyReplies.
Google reply rules
- One reply per review — Google doesn't allow threaded replies.
- You can edit a reply after publishing, but the timestamp updates.
- No links to another review platform (Yelp, TrustPilot) — Google will remove them.
- Never quote personal contact detail publicly.
Tone notes
Named, first-person, one paragraph. Google's algorithm rewards consistency; readers reward specificity.

FAQ
- How fast should we reply to a Google review?
- Within 24 hours for anything below four stars, within a week for the rest. Google weights consistency more than speed alone.
- Can we ask a customer to update a Google review?
- Yes, if the ask is genuine and private — never in the public reply.
- Does Google penalise auto-replies?
- Google does not explicitly penalise them, but visibly identical replies across multiple reviews reduce reader trust and can be reported.
