4-star reply templates

How to reply to a 4-star Google review (10 templates)

Most owners skip 4-star replies. That's the mistake — future customers reading your profile see how you handle a good-but-not-perfect experience and calibrate their expectations from there.

The 3-line framework

  1. Thank the reviewer by name.
  2. Name the one thing they flagged, if they flagged something.
  3. Invite them back with a specific person or offer.

Never do this

  • Never ask them to change the rating.
  • Never write a long reply — 4-star replies work best under 200 characters.
  • Never copy-paste a stock "thank you for the kind words" across every 4-star review.

FAQ

Should I always reply to 4-star reviews?
Yes. Skipping them signals that you only reply to problems, which reads poorly to prospective customers scanning your profile.
How long should a 4-star reply be?
Aim for 100–200 characters. Short, specific, warm. Long replies to 4-star reviews look defensive.
Can I ask a 4-star reviewer for the extra star?
No. Google's guidelines forbid soliciting rating changes and future readers spot the ask instantly.
